Motorcycle Brake Lines
That Don’t Flex Under Pressure
Stainless steel brake lines are the #1 recommended upgrade for any rider looking to improve braking performance. Unlike stock rubber lines, which can expand and break down over time, causing a spongy feel, GBrakes® maintains consistent hydraulic pressure. The result? Crisp, predictable lever feel and more confident braking, every ride.
Proudly engineered, designed, and manufactured 100% in the USA.
Our stainless steel lines eliminate sponge, ballooning, and fade. Ours hold pressure under heat and abuse whether you’re pushing late into corners or crawling up technical terrain.
Everyone is application-matched. Street. Dual-sport. You get the right length, the right fit, and zero guessing.

Brake Line Materials, Routing & What to Look For

- Rubber ones come stock on most bikes. They’re flexible and cheap to produce, but under load, especially when heated, they expand. That expansion delays pad engagement, softens feedback, and kills consistency. Over time, rubber lines degrade from inside out, especially when moisture enters the system.
- Braided ones, typically stainless steel over PTFE (Teflon) core, don’t expand. They preserve lever pressure and drastically improve brake feel. You’ll feel the difference immediately: firmer lever, quicker response, and far better control under repeated braking.

Not all are created equal. Core material matters:
- PTFE (Teflon) core with stainless braid: Most common, best all-around pressure handling.
- Kevlar: Lighter, less conductive to heat, but more sensitive to installation error.
- Hybrid: Combine layered protection for racing or extreme weather use.
- Zinc-coated or stainless steel banjo fittings
- Crimped vs swaged ends
- DOT compliance or racing spec

Front brake lines handle more pressure, especially under emergency braking. That’s why they often get dual lines or splitters. Rear ones manage balance and slow-speed control-but must stay smooth, kink-free, and away from heat zones like exhausts.
Always inspect for:
- Line angle & banjo bolt alignment
- Proper flex range on suspension travel
- No rubbing against fairings, forks, or frame
Motorcycle Brake Line Kits vs Custom Builds
We offer both full kits and customs for unique builds, bar swaps, and conversions. Whether you need extra length for risers or shortened lines for low bars, we’ve got the tools and specs to build it right. Even a simple bar swap can put dangerous stress on the line if not routed properly. That’s why every Gbrakes® line kit is pre-routed, pressure-tested, and backed by rider data.

Signs You Need A Replacement
- Lever feels soft or gets spongier after a few stops
- Visible cracking or wear on outer sheathing
- Fluid leaks at junctions or fittings
- Braided layer fraying or rust at crimps
